As an international student paying his own way, cost played a central role in his decision.

“BSU has a cost of attendance that is relatively low compared to other universities but still provides a good quality education,” he said.

While affordability brought him to BSU, it was his growing passion for helping others that defined his path once he arrived. Eloundou found that nursing offered a meaningful way to turn that commitment into a career.

“Taking care of people during the most vulnerable time of their lives is an utmost privilege,” he said.

Watching patients improve throughout their care is what drew him to the field and what continues to motivate him. He added, “I also like the way I look in scrubs.”

Outside the classroom, Eloundou found community through BSU’s International Student Organization. The group became a key part of his college experience, offering opportunities to travel and connect with others.

Campus events like Festival of Nations stood out, where he sampled food from cultures around the world.

“It was one of those times when I would feel like I am at home,” he said.

Eloundou said his time at BSU came with challenges. Balancing nursing and pre-med coursework and a busy life required discipline and resilience.

“These four years were not easy,” he said. “God has been my rock. The strength to do all of it came from God in moments of doubt.”

He credits his drive for success, along with the support of family, friends and instructors, for helping him stay focused.

After graduation, Eloundou plans to work as a critical care nurse before pursuing medical school or becoming a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

His advice to incoming students is straightforward.

“Believe in yourself and take advantage of all the resources you have available here to make the most out of your time,” he said. “Learn how to get out of your own way and meet new people and make meaningful connections.”

Story by: Hannah Cook, Content Assistant, Office of Communications and Marketing.

For Steeve Eloundou, choosing ÐßÐßÂþ» came down to two priorities: affordability and family.
