What is Title IX

Title IX prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities in federally funded schools. Title IX protects students, employees, applicants for admission and employment and other persons from all forms of sex discrimination, including discrimination based on gender identity or failure to conform to stereotypical notions of masculinity or femininity.

On this page, you will find information about Title IX, available resources and college policies and procedures regarding sexual misconduct. We hope you find this information helpful. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact the Title IX Office at TitleIX@bemidjistate.edu.

Title IX also offers protections for pregnant or new parents who are students or staff. Bemidji State does not discriminate against any student on the basis of pregnancy or related conditions. The University will provide reasonable and appropriate adjustments and flexibility, upon request, to students based on their documented pregnancy-related circumstances. Such circumstances may include pregnancy, complications arising from pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, false pregnancy, miscarriage, termination of pregnancy or recovery. Bemidji State also has support for parenting students with children under the age of 18.
